Outcome of the 2-Day National Conference deliberations

The National Conference on Emerging Trends in Mathematics -Its Applications and Celebration of Mathematics Day in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, JK Government, concluded on December 16, 2020 at the Department of Mathematics, University of Kashmir.

The Conference was well attended by a good number of participants both online and offline, the participants other than faculty and research scholars of our own University were from AMU; Anamalaye University, Tamil Nadu; TIFR Mumbai, Bangalore University, Amity University; BGSB University, Rajouri; Central University of Kashmir; Faculty members of various colleges etc. The overall response was quite appreciable.

The 2-Day event started with a talk on Combinatorics by Prof. Amitava Bhattacharya (TIFR Mumbai) followed by a lecture entitled “Some univalent criteria for Integral operators” by a world-renowned mathematician Prof. Daniel Breaz from Romania.

On 2nd day of the Conference, Dr. MA Khanday, Associate Professor of the Department  delivered an inspirational talk on the life history and contributions of S. Ramanujan on the Celebrations of National Day of Mathematics. He has given detailed information about his level of intelligence and his recognition at International level under hard circumstances. He suggested that, we all should follow the quote of Ramanujan “An equation has no meaning to me unless it expresses a thought of God” to identify the applications of mathematics in our day today life situations.

Prof. MA. Sofi delivered an important talk entitled “Social Distancing – A Mathematical Perspective” , the lecture was relevant with the current crisis of COVID-19 pandemic.

The talk entitled “Additive eigenvalue problem and representation theory” was presented by Prof. C.S. Rajan of TIFR Mumbai.

In the afternoon session, Prof. PG Siddheshwar, enlighted the participants by making some innovative ideas when he talked on the topic “How to extract physics from the MATHEMATICS that I know?”, it was a nice lecture to perceive the beauty of mathematics under real life situations.

The title “On Bungee sets of transcendental entire functions” was highlighted by Prof. AP Singh, Former Vice Chancellor, Central University Rajasthan. He has discussed complex dynamic systems with beautiful illustrations.

About 15 papers on different themes were presented in the paper presentation sessions.

Earlier the 2-Day conference on Emerging trends in mathematics-Its applications and celebration of Mathematics Day was inaugurated by the Hon’ble VC, Chief Guest and Registrar Special Guest of the event on December 15, 2020.
