ATM School in Mathematics IST Field Theory (2016)



A training programme on ‘Field Theory’ commenced at the University of Kashmir.

The programme titled “Instructional School for Teachers-(IST) on Field Theory- 2016’ has been organized by the University’s Department of Mathematics in collaboration with the National Centre for Mathematics, Mumbai. It was held between May 2-14, 2016.

The programme is funded by NBHM, Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and is aimed to educate college and university teachers about the latest developments in Field Theory.

Dean of Academic Affairs at Kashmir University, Prof  M A. Wani was chief guest at the inaugural function. He emphasized the role of a teacher in building career of students and that of teacher-student relation for development of the education sector. 

Prof S Pirzada, HOD Mathematics gave a detailed description of events conducted by the department from time to time. “The department is progressing in a good direction in terms of teaching and research activities,” he said.

Prof M A Sofi, Convener of the programme, welcomed the participants and deliberated on importance of such training programmes.

Prof. S A Katre from University of Pune highlighted various activities of National Centre for Mathematics and Dr M A Khanday gave introductory information about Field Theory and highlighted the contributions of Abel and Galios in the field of algebraic structures. Dr M H Gulzar presented vote of thanks.
